Northwest Motors
Included on every vehicle · no extra charge

Every car leaves here with coverage. Here is exactly what it covers.

Three things come with every vehicle NW Motors sells, at no extra charge: a 7-day bumper-to-bumper warranty, a 3-day exchange, and 3-month / 3,000-mile powertrain coverage. This page explains what each one is, how long it runs, and what you actually do if you need it — including where the coverage stops. Knowing that part up front is the whole point.

The three coverages, one at a time

7 days

Bumper-to-bumper warranty

The broadest of the three, and the shortest. It runs seven days — the week where anything an inspection can miss usually shows itself. Drive it to work, load the kids in, take it up the highway.

If something is wrong, call the dealership right away. Do not wait out the week hoping it settles down.

3 days

Exchange

Three days, included with every car we sell. What the exchange allows and how you use it is written into the documents you sign for your specific vehicle — not into a headline on this page.

Ask us to read that section out loud at the desk, so you know it before you need it. Questions after you drive off: call before you drive over.

3 months / 3,000 miles

Powertrain coverage

The longest of the three, and the narrowest. Powertrain means the parts that move the car — engine, transmission, drivetrain. Your paperwork lists the specific components covered on your vehicle and the exact limits.

Work under this coverage is handled by the NW Motors service department, the same shop that preps every car we sell.

Be clear-eyed about what this is

Used-car coverage is worth exactly what it says and no more, so here is the honest shape of it:

  • The bumper-to-bumper part runs seven days. Not seven months.
  • The powertrain part runs 3 months / 3,000 miles, and it covers the powertrain — not everything under the hood, and not wear items.
  • These are coverages included with the car. They are not an extended service contract, and this page is not the contract.
  • The document you sign at the desk is the contract. If it and a web page ever disagree, the document wins.

Read the window, then read what you sign

Federal law requires a Buyers Guide in the window of every used vehicle offered for sale, and that Buyers Guide becomes part of your sales contract. It states the coverage that applies to that specific car. Read it, then read the paperwork — the exact dates, the mileage limits, and the covered components live there, not in a headline. Anything on it you do not understand, make us explain before you sign. That is a normal thing to ask for and we would rather you ask.

Five questions worth asking before you sign

  1. What exactly does this vehicle’s coverage include, in writing?
  2. What are the start and end dates, and the mileage limits?
  3. Is there anything I pay when I bring it in?
  4. Where does the work get done?
  5. What is not covered?

We would rather answer all five at the desk than have you find out on the shoulder of Route 83.

If something goes wrong, do this

1
Call the dealership

One number for all three coverages. Se habla español.

(224) 243-7171
2
Tell us what the car is doing

Sound, smell, warning light, and when it happens. The more specific you are, the faster the diagnosis.

3
Bring it in

Service happens at the NW Motors service department in Mundelein — the same shop that inspects every car before it gets listed.

Outside the coverage window? The service department still quotes you honestly before any work starts. That part does not expire.

Why we can include it on every car

The coverage is possible because of what happens before a car is ever listed. Every vehicle is inspected first — including a rust check for what Illinois road salt does to a car that spent its winters here. We would rather turn a car away than sell it and meet it again in the service bay.

Warranty questions, straight answers

Does every NW Motors car come with a warranty, or are some sold as-is?

Every vehicle we sell includes all three coverages at no extra charge: a 7-day bumper-to-bumper warranty, a 3-day exchange, and 3-month / 3,000-mile powertrain coverage. The Buyers Guide in the window and the documents you sign state the coverage that applies to that specific car — read both before you sign.

Does the warranty cost extra?

No. All three are included in the price of the car. Nothing is added to your price for them.

What does “powertrain” mean here?

The parts that move the car — engine, transmission, drivetrain. It is deliberately narrower than bumper-to-bumper. The specific components covered on your vehicle are listed in your paperwork; ask us to walk through that list with you before you sign.

How does the 3-day exchange work?

Every vehicle includes a 3-day exchange. What it allows and how you use it is stated in the documents you sign for your specific car, and we are not going to paraphrase contract terms on a web page. Call (224) 243-7171 and we will read you the actual terms — before you buy, ideally.

Where does warranty work get done?

At the NW Motors service department in Mundelein — the same shop that inspects and preps every car we sell. Start by calling (224) 243-7171 and telling us what the car is doing.

Is there a deductible, or anything I pay at drop-off?

That is stated in the paperwork for your specific vehicle, and we will go through it with you line by line before you sign. We are not going to guess at it on a web page. Call (224) 243-7171 and we will read you the actual terms.

What happens after the coverage ends?

It ends — and we would rather say that plainly than let you assume otherwise. The bumper-to-bumper coverage runs 7 days and the powertrain coverage runs 3 months / 3,000 miles. After that the service department is still right here, and it quotes you honestly before any work starts.

I live outside Mundelein. Does the coverage still apply?

Yes. We serve buyers across Libertyville, Vernon Hills, Grayslake, Round Lake, Wauconda, Waukegan, Gurnee, Lake Zurich and Buffalo Grove, and the coverage is the same wherever you park it. The service work happens here in Mundelein, so factor the drive in when you plan the visit.

Questions about the coverage on a specific car?

Ask before you buy, not after. Pick the car and we will walk you through exactly what comes with it — in writing, in English or Spanish.

Coverage terms are stated in the documents you sign for your specific vehicle, and that paperwork governs. This page is a plain-language summary, not a contract. Questions? Call or text (224) 243-7171 — hablamos español.
